Montgomery Walking Festival 2026

Saturday 3rd and Sunday 4th October 2026

Our 2026 Walking Festival weekend features short, medium and long walks in and around our lovely Montgomery town and local countryside. Walks range from a 2 miles, easy stroll on our Montgomery Heritage Walk – taking in our towns landmark buildings, locations and our castle with panoramic views out across our civil war battleground fields – to longer, more challenging, 21 and 10 mile walks for the hardened walkers amongst you.

All the walks at the Festival are guided, and are FREE (except for bus fares for those walks that use a service bus to reach the starting point). However, spaces are limited, so please reserve your places via the link below each walk.

PLEASE NOTE: Unfortunately.. Dogs cannot accompany walkers on our walks as paths cross farmers fields with roaming, grazing sheep, cattle and livestock.

SATURDAY 3rd OCTOBER — WALKS

CHALLENGE WALK

21 miles – Strenuous going

Start 07:30 at Maldwyn Way car park

It is a different route to any previous challenge walks at the Festival and has some stupendous views. From Montgomery we follow Offa’s Dyke Path up onto the Kerry Ridgeway and then circle round the hills and vales to enjoy very varied landscapes en-route back to Montgomery.
